Autumn Quarter Reflection
My first quarter at the University of Washington has been a truly transformative and impactful experience. Beyond academics, the thing that I learned most about this quarter was myself. I learned how to celebrate my victories, share my triumphs, take time to relax, balance time with my friends, and share my defeats with others. I have grown to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.

HONORS 210: Archives and Remixes
Video Remix: How We Met Each Other
During my first quarter at the UW, I had the pleasure of taking a class on remixes, archives, and librarianship. Through this class, we had an assignment to make a video remix. My idea was to have my friends and I sit down and share the stories of how we first met each other so that I could cut up the clips and create something new: a remix. This project was one of the most rewarding experiences of my quarter as not only was I able to provide commentary on perspective and storytelling, but I also created a time capsule for my friends and I to reflect upon in quarters to come.

My First Real PNW Winter Coat
As a native Arizonan Phoenician, moving to Seattle was a large change for me. I moved around quite a bit when I was younger, however, none of the moves were as climatic as my moving to the great state of Washington. While I did purchase a rain coat before arriving on campus, an item I forgot was necessary in other parts of the country was a winter coat. This was due to my living where our winters were eighty degrees and sunny and a stark contrast to the gloom and rain of Seattle: and I love it. Buying this coat, to me, was the first step toward the rest of my life: shedding the sun for clouds, leaving the past behind, beginning anew.
Home At Last
My Dorm Room
I have been waiting to decorate my dorm room for years. Through countless Pinterest boards, wishlists, and deleted Amazon carts, I could not wait to come to college and have my half of the room to decorate. Beyond the fun of hanging up my posters, my dorm room this first quarter became my safe haven of sorts. Something I was not anticipating for college was the overwhelming and constant interaction with other people. As an introvert surrounded by many extroverts, this became a difficult idea to come to terms with. However, my dorm room became an escape for me to drink my tea and read my book (to have my "grandma time"). My room, to me, represents accepting all facets of me with love: those that want to be surrounded by their friends, and those that need their alone time. I have come to accept and adore my need for my self solitude.
